The Naturalistic Masks

On Saturday 15th November, the naturalistic masks made their first appearance. These are full masks created from the faces of performers (either when they were holding an expression or when relaxed). I wondered whether they would work as masks and also what type of masks they would create… what type of characters and dynamics might arise?

It turned out to be a great day full of new improvs and an expanded view of what is possible.

I really loved the workshop. I’ve never worked with masks of real people before. It’s a great tool for character work and it’s great to see them come alive.”
